Special Education - Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Certification Preparation

EKU’s online Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education certification is a graduate, non-degree granting program that focuses on best practices and promotes the knowledge and skill sets needed to advance the quality of services and educational programs for students. The program meets Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board requirements and prepares educators to work as leaders in early childhood settings, including state and local level organizations.

Students pursuing certification must hold an undergraduate degree in early childhood or related field and a Kentucky Teaching Certificate or meet all requirements for admission to teacher education

NOTE: If you do not hold teacher certification in Kentucky, please consult with your state’s licensing agency to determine whether our program will meet your state’s licensure requirements.

Program requirements

  • Prospective graduate students must meet the admissions requirements of the Graduate School.
  • Candidates must meet state eligibility requirements for professional educators including at least a 2.75 undergraduate GPA and current state test score requirements (Praxis or GRE).
  • Candidates must have a valid state teaching certification or be eligible for admission to professional education.
